Quantum Physics

We begin this brief journey with Max Planck who was the father of quantum theory.  In the early part of the 20th century, Planck made the assumption that energy was made of individual units, or “quanta.”  The existence of these discrete units became the first assumption of quanta theory.

The word “quanta” describes a mathematically determined “quantity” of energy such as a photon or an electron.

So what is a quantum particle in relation to the tiny world of the atom?  Well, a quantum particle is an indivisible unit or packet of energy.

Quantum physics is therefore the study of the physical world at the scale of these quanta.

The Quantum makes up and is located within the sub-atomic, and the sub-atomic is what makes up and is located within the atomic.

Atomic is the smallest particle of a chemical element that retains its chemical properties.

The atom is a basic unit of matter that consists of a dense central nucleus surrounded by a cloud of negatively charged electrons.  The atom contains a mix of positively charged protons and eclectically neutral neutrons. (Except in the case of hydrogen 1, this is the only stable nuclide with no neutrons).  The electrons of an atom are bound to the nucleus by the electromagnetic force.

If the universe is made up of atoms, and atoms are made up of quantum particles, then it is not at all improbable to consider that God can view the world of atoms and even the world of quanta just as He would view the macroscopic world that we are accustomed to observing.  The biblical revelation of the “omniscience” of God would incline us to believe that nothing is hidden from the observation of God, whether macroscopic or microscopic or even sub-atomic.  The Bible teaches that “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.  Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:13 NIV) “Nothing” in the Greek language means “nothing!”

General definition of Quantum Physics

The invisible layer of quantum reality acts as some kind of interface between the presence and power of God (who exists in the spiritual realm) and the world of matter.

The non-local quantum world appears to be a kind of invisible intermediate “buffer zone” between the spirit and matter.  It appears that the non-local quantum realm has been strategically crafted by God to be directly responsive to the influence and activity of the Spirit of God so these non-local quantum realities are capable of “materializing” into a localized spatial formation.  Quantum realities are the building blocks of matter.

The quantum world is the interface between the spiritual world and the physical world.

One can start to see that there are three different worlds. These three worlds are the world of the spirit, the quantum world, and the physical world.  Just like we have the greatest understanding of the physical world we are just beginning to see into the quantum world.

Some of the interesting things in the quantum world are made up of the following:

Non-Locality, Quantum Entanglement, Quantum Tunneling, Quantum Teleportation, and Wave/particle duality.

Non-Locality

The concept of extra-dimensionality is helpful in seeking to come to an understanding of the exact nature of quantum reality.  By “non-local” physicists mean something which transcends our familiar space-time plane of existence.  Non-local means something that is not a part of this four dimensional world of space and time.  We live in a local, physical universe that is bound by four dimensions, (three space and one time) but quantum physicist are now conscious of the existence of another dimension beyond our four dimensions and this additional dimension is said to be “non-local.”  In this dimension quantum realities do not appear to be bound by the constraints of space and time.

Quantum Entanglement

This is a property of the quantum world that is extremely strange and mysterious and which also eliminates conventional concepts of time.

To illustrate this we will describe two photons that are the product of an original single photon.  When a photon passes through matter it is absorbed by an electron.  This interaction can cause a photon to decay into two photons as it is emitted from the electron.  The total energy of the two new photons then equals the energy of the original photon.  These two new, smaller photons are said to be “entangled” with one another and they mysteriously remain “partners” for life.

Because photons are continuously interacting with electrons throughout the entire universe the phenomenon of quantum entanglement is ubiquitous to our universe.  Entangled pairs of photons are made by taking one photon and converting it into a pair that are then sent off in opposite directions.  If two particles are entangled, they act in some respects as if they were a single object.

All particles have a property known as “spin.”  They rotate on an axis.  They spin either forwards or backwards, and in the case of photons the spin is called either “left handed” or “right handed” spin.  In the case of two entangled photons the spin property of one will always be the exact opposite of the other entangled partner.  Amazingly, entangled photons which have interacted in the past and then move far away from each other, remain, in a certain sense, still connected, and can instantaneously “communicate” with each other.

Two entangled particles must have opposite values, for example if one is spinning in one direction then the other is spinning in the other direction.  If something causes the spin to change in one of the entangled particles this instantaneously causes its entangled partner to spin the other direction.  Even if the other particle was theoretically a million miles away!  Whatever happens to one particle would thus immediately affect the other particle.  Measuring the property of one entangled photon will immediately tell you the property of the other with absolute consistency.

Entangled quantum particles have “superluminal” qualities in that they communicate with one another at speeds infinitely beyond the speed of light.  In fact the speed of light doesn’t even come into the equation.

Quantum entanglement proves the existence of another level of reality, “one which lies outside space and time since non-locality is its principle characteristic.”

Quantum Entanglement may be the foundation of math.

The foundation of all maths is +1, 0, -1.  From +1 you can go to infinite numbers above zero, and from -1 you can go to infinite numbers below zero.  Zero is not a number, but is nothing (invisible) that is connected to numbers that are visible.  Two photons from one photon which becomes nothing (zero) that create a positive spin and a negative spin that are connected to each other and go on forever and ever.

Quantum Entanglement mirrors’ the Creation Story.

Something than Nothing back to Something.

Something       In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Nothing           The earth was without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the                          deep.

Something       And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw the                         light, that it was good…

Quantum Entanglement mirror’s the Magnetic Particle.

This is also what makes up a magnetic particle.  A positive, neutral, (nothing) and negative aspects.

Quantum Tunneling

Another attribute of the quantum world that reveals the non-local nature of quantum mechanics is the phenomenon of “quantum tunneling.”  This is that so-called “matter” has the capacity to de-materialize and to re-materialize in the sub-atomic world.

Quantum physics predicts there is a chance that a particle trapped behind a barrier without the energy to overcome the barrier may at times appear on the other side of the barrier without overcoming it or breaking it down.

For example, assume you’re in jail.  It does not violate the laws of physics for you to exist inside your cell or outside your cell, but you do not have enough energy to penetrate or break down the walls. According to quantum physics, there is a certain probability you could disappear from the inside and reappear on the outside leaving the wall unbroken.

As with quantum entanglement, perhaps time doesn’t even come into the equation, especially when a proton or an electron transcends the cosmic speed limit of the know speed of light.  It is more probable that quantum non-locality is the explanation once again and that the quantum particle simply disappears and reappears on the other side of the barrier.

Quantum Teleportation

The phenomena of quantum entanglement and quantum tunneling have paved the way for advance in the field of quantum teleportation.

In 2004 scientists actually teleported photons for the first time.  Teleportation involves de-materializing an object at one point and transferring the precise details of its configuration to another point location, where the object is then reconstructed.

In the science fiction series Star Trek we can remember the scene beam me up Scotty.

Wave/particle duality

Recent trends in the exploration of the quantum world are bringing to light some strange new realities.  Wave-particle duality, quantum entanglement, quantum tunneling and quantum teleportation all reveal that matter is effectively non-local!  That is to say, quantum entanglement proves that in the quantum world there is no such thing as “over here” and “over there.”  There is no mechanism in quantum mechanics which explains how particles “communicate” with each other superluminally (faster than light).

The fact is, there is no superluminal communication; rather there is an extra-dimensional property called “non-locality” which implies that two sub-atomic particles separated by vast distance in space are actually “non-locally” joined together in another dimension!  New experiments consistently prove that matter itself, at a quantum level, does not have a strictly “material” reality.

The further scientists prove the essence of matter the more it is found in some mysterious way to have extra-dimensional properties.

Quantum physics studies nature at a quantum level, the most distinguishing attribute of the quantum world is the “wave/particle duality” which reveals that all of what we call “matter” has a dual existence.  Quantum realities simultaneously exist as both a wave (a non-materialized state) and a particle (a materialized state).  Is the quantum a particle or a wave?  The answer is “yes!”  It is both a wave and a particle depending on the experiment that it is subjected to.

According to the Uncertainty Principle, the world of the quantum exists in a superposition; that is, it exists simultaneously as a wave and as a particle; this is what quantum physicists call the wave/particle duality.  Where does the energy wave go when it is collapsed into a particle?  Well, theoretically, it is still both a wave and a particle at the same time.  When it is not being observed it is a wave but when it is being observed it is a particle.  But according the Uncertainty Principle this means that even in it collapsed or materialized state it is still an energy wave or a quanta of invisible energy.  It is only when this wave packet of energy is being observed that it is collapsed into a material state.

According to the science of quantum physics “matter” can only exist in a materialized state whilst it is being observed.

This raises a significant philosophical dilemma:  How can the world of matter come into existence without an observer?  According to all the findings of quantum physicist, without the interference of an observer, the quantum field would remain an invisible, non-local cloud of energy. When we expand our understanding of the quantum world to a macroscopic scale, to the size of the entire universe, it is evident that the entire universe is a super massive field of quantum energy that has collapsed into matter and it somehow mysteriously maintained in a material state.

The bible revelation of the existence of an omnipotent, personal Creator powerfully solves this problem. The biblical concept of God as an eternal, limitless divine being perfectly fits the role of the one true Observer who observes the entire universe simultaneously.  The God of the Bible is an omniscient being; this means He has all knowledge simultaneously.  There is nothing that the Creator of the heavens and the earth does not know.  His knowledge is absolute and unlimited.  That is because He is an omnipresent being who sees everything and who subsequently knows everything.

The bible reveals a God who is ever present interactive Observer of His own creation.  It is the very nature of God to observe.  “He who planted the ear, shall He not hear?  He who formed the eye, shall He not see?”  (Psalm 94:9)  God is revealed as the omnipotent Creator who has uniquely designed and crafted the material universe.  It is absolutely fascinating in the light of quantum physics to realize that God has revealed Himself as the One who has created both the visible and the invisible world.

“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.  All things were created through Him for Him.” (Colossians 1:16)  The bible actually reveals that the visible or material realm has been created from invisible immaterial realities.  “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen [visible] were not made of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3)  Why did the author of the book of Hebrews choose to use a plural forming describing the worlds?  The answer lies in the fact that there are in fact two worlds; the visible world and the invisible world.

The visible world is actually founded upon the invisible!  Just like the Bible actually reveals that the things that are visible are made of things which are invisible.

Matter is the product of invisible packets or quanta of energy that have been collapsed through interaction with conscious observation!

God is the creator but He is also the ultimate Observer!  As long as God is observing the universe it remains collapsed into a material state.  This means that the universe is maintained both by the voice of God and by the observation of God.  God observes all that He has made.  “The Lord looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race.  From His throne He observes all who live on the earth.” (Psalm 33:13-14 NLT)

We could thus speak in terms of primary and secondary observation.  Primary observation by God alters the fabric of nature by creating the quantum superposition whereby quantum “wavicles (waves/particle)” are permitted to exist in two states simultaneously.  This primary observation allows for the materialization of quantum waves in such a way that it brings forth a physical, material universe.  Without God’s observation, the quantum world would remain a universe of non-local waves that exist exclusively in a dematerialized state.

Secondary observation by the human observer collapse the wave function into an absolutes particle state where the quantum superposition no longer exists and the wave function if fully collapsed.

So there are two observers in the universe: God; the ultimate Observer and humans beings as secondary observers.

There are two types of secondary observer, they are either an active or passive observe.

Through His observation and the power of His word, the invisible elements of creation took on form and shape, and the material universe began to come into existence, “So that the things which are seen (visible) were not made of things which were visible.”

God through His grace, mercy, and love has allowed us to be a secondary observer of his creation.

It is in this dimension as a secondary observer that gives us a greater understanding of the words in Hebrews 11: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  Again it is His Word that we are speaking forth to bring forth the evidence of things not seen.

For creation it is the active observer that is able to move the heart of God, to allow them to see creation in action.

The realm of spirit undergirds the realm of matter and that the material world is actually structured upon the building blocks of spirit.

The above all point towards the existence of other dimensions outside of space and time and time and space.

Dose this apply to us?

You may find the answer to this question very interesting.

Remember quantum is the interface between the spiritual and the physical.

Jesus said “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father.” (John 14:12, Matt 21:21, Mark 16:17, Luke 10:17)

Jesus is the son of God. (Matt 3:16-17, Mark 1:11, Luke 3:22, John 1:24)

In heaven and on earth.

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.  Your kingdom come.  Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.  And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.  For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.  (Matt 6:9-13)

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying.  “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  Amen.  (Matt 28:18-20)

Jesus said to him, (Thomas) “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.  (John 14:6)

Jesus is the interface between heaven and earth.

When looking at each quantum concept they mirror what Jesus said, and did.

The main quantum concepts are:

Non-local

Quantum Entanglement

Quantum Tunneling

Quantum Teleportation

Wave/particle Duality

Let us see how each one mirrors what Jesus said, and did.

Non-local:

The concept of extra dimensions and time.

Extra dimensions

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with the saints what is the width and length and depth and height to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.  (Eph 3:14-19)  In King James it reads what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height.

What is breath?  Is it a reference to the forth dimension?

Different time

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.  (2 Peter 3:8)

Quantum Entanglement:

One proton split into two protons.  One proton spinning in one direction and the other proton spinning in the other direction.  If something causes the spin to change in one entangled particle this instantaneously causes it entangled partner to spin the other direction.

A Woman Is Caught in Adultery:  (John 8: 10-12)

When Jesus had raises Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours?  Has no one condemned you?”

She said, “No one, Lord.”

And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Sin no more implies that Jesus forgave her.  He did not condemn her, but neither did He condone her sin.

The entangled partner spin affects the other spin.  We can look at it this way, one spin is in a positive direction (spirit) and the other spin is in a negative direction, (physical).

What we do in the spirit effects our physical, what we do in the physical affects the spirit.

Quantum Tunneling:

Quantum physics predicts there is a chance that a particle trapped behind a barrier without the energy to overcome the barrier may at times appear on the other side of the barrier without overcoming it or breaking it down.

So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you, will say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.  However, this kind dose not go out except by prayer and fasting.” (Matt 17:20-21)

Quantum Teleportation:

Teleportation involves de-materializing an object at one point and transferring the precise details of its configuration to another point location, where the object is then reconstructed.

The Transfiguration:  (Matt 17:1-8, Mark 9:2-13, Luke 9:28-36)

Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them.  His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.  And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.  Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here, if you wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud over showed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying. “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.  Hear Him!”  And when the disciples heard it they fell on their face and were greatly afraid.  But Jesus came and touch them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.”  When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

(Eph 2:4-6)      But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ and raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Wave/particle Duality:

Quantum physics studies nature at a quantum level, the most distinguishing attribute of the quantum world is the “wave/particle duality” which reveals that all of what we call “matter” has a dual existence.  Quantum realities simultaneously exist as both a wave (a non-materialized state) and a particle (a materialized state).  Is the quantum a particle or a wave?  The answer is “yes!”  It is both a wave and a particle depending on the experiment that it is subjected to.

Christ Witness to Nicodmus:  (John 3:1-17)

There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.  This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old?  Can he enter a second time into his mother womb and be born?”

Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again.”  The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes.  So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Nicodemus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?  Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.  If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?  No one has ascended to heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Every thing from feeding 5000 to healing the sick did not come from this physical world.

Based on the above is my case for Christians to be in the zone.

How ever the following had a hard time believing that there is more to this world then what they cannot see.

Paul Addressing the Areopagus (Acts 17:22-29)

Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an alter with this inscription:

To The Unknown God

Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:  God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.  Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.  And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwelling, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each of us, for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your poets have said, “For we are also His offspring.”  Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man devising.

Rejection by Many Followers:  (John 6:60-64)

Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”

When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you?  What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?  It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.  The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.  But there are some of you who do not believe.”  For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.

For the one’s who do believe in Jesus, and what He said and did and know in their spirit that what Jesus said is true, when He said “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father.”

Look at the next section on The Application of the Zone.

The Application of the Zone.

What may be the application of he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to my Father?

Let us go back to Genesis to see a pattern and a greater understanding of creation.

Part of the History of Creation (Genesis 1:1-10)        [History is His story]

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Then God said, “Let there be light;” and there was light.  And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.  God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.  So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the water from the waters.”  Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.  And God called the firmament Heaven.  So the evening and the morning were the second day.

Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear;” and it was so.  And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas.  And God saw that it was good.

There is a lot more in the first part of creation then what is being highlighted.

  1. A) The first part is God said then saw.
  2. B) Next the Spirit hovered over what God said.
  3. C) Hovered over the waters.
  4. D) Water came first than the land.

Let’s us go back to the wave/particle duality.

Wave may represent the Spirit and the particle the Physical.

Water may be represented by the Spirit and land by the Physical.

Even today the Spirit is hovering over the land.  The clouds and rain come from the oceans and hover over the land.

This would follow the pattern of Spirit bring forth life from the invisible to the visible.

If you can see yourself at the beach with one foot in the waves and the other on the land this would give us a good picture of being in the zone.

Jesus only did what He heard and saw what the Father does.  Jesus put His ear towards heaven and what He heard, He than spoke.  He also looked to heaven, and what He saw He did.

Then Jesus answered and said to them, Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.  For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. (John 5:19-20)

Back to the beach example.  The beach is an interface between the ocean and the land.  By having one foot in the waves (Spiritual) and the other on the land (particle/physical) you can see and hear from heaven for what to speak and how to walk on the earth.  This is one way of fulfilling the words On Earth As It Is In Heaven.

The beach example is a way of understanding the words; We are in the world but not of the world.

But now I come to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves.  I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.  I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.  They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.  (John 17:13-16)

Not of the world.  This verse has profound implications for discipleship.  Our desire should not be to isolate ourselves from the world, but to use Christ word and the Holy Spirit’s power to serve Him while our life lasts.  Yet at the same time, we should not become like the world, succumbing to the evil influences of the world.

All this brings us to Hebrews 11.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. (Hebrews 11:1-3)

The rest of Hebrews are those who lived their life in faith and spoke forth His Word.

To be included in this hall of faith I see it is done by living in the zone.  As an interface between heaven and earth.

For in Him we live and move and have our being.

Quantum Teleportation

Wave/particle Duality

Let us see how each one mirrors what Jesus said, and did.

The concept of extra dimensions and time.
